Birth and university education

Suthida Tidjai was born in Hat Yai in Songkhla Province on 3 June 1978. She graduated from Assumption University in Bangkok in communication arts. Her southern Thai background and education preceded both military service and royal marriage. The birth-family identity is retained rather than treating membership of the Chakri dynasty by marriage as an original family lineage.

Civil aviation work

After university she worked as a flight attendant, first with Japan Airlines and then Thai Airways. The official biography places the airline period before her royal-security responsibilities. Civil aviation employment, military aviation associations and consort duties are different kinds of work, so they are recorded separately rather than compressed into one royal-service title.

Royal-security career

She subsequently served within the royal-security structure and rose through military appointments. By 2017 she held deputy leadership responsibilities described in the government biography. These positions belong to a professional chronology before the marriage. A ceremonial photograph in uniform alone would not establish the same record, making named appointments and dates more informative than rank imagery.

Marriage in May 2019

Suthida married Vajiralongkorn on 1 May 2019 and received the queen’s title. Further royal investiture took place during the coronation ceremonies on 4 May. The king’s reign had begun in 2016, so the wedding and coronation did not constitute his initial accession. Her own consort period has a different starting date.

Representative and cultural duties

Her public programme includes ceremonies and engagements in Thailand and abroad. Official accounts emphasize traditional arts, crafts and Thai textiles among the activities associated with her role. These are stated areas of representation, not proof that a royal personally produces every supported work or administers every programme connected with the subject.

A clearly identified consort

The title Queen identifies Suthida as the sovereign’s spouse rather than a queen regnant. Her biography complements Vajiralongkorn’s account of military preparation, succession and coronation. Keeping the two roles separate gives readers a clearer understanding of the contemporary Thai royal family while preserving the civil-aviation and security experience that preceded her present public position.
