Editorial Standards

A biography earns trust through its sources, its distinctions and its willingness to be corrected. These standards guide the growing CYBIOGRAPHY collection.

Sources and factual claims

We prioritize official institutions, original publications, company filings, museums, universities and established archival records. General reference works help establish context and locate supporting material. Every editorial biography includes a source list; source links identify the material used, rather than implying that the source endorses this website.

Dates, awards, public offices, academic credentials and company roles need specific support. A founder, investor, executive and chair hold different roles. A royal title, family relationship and public office are recorded separately. An announced project is not presented as completed work.

When sources disagree, we seek the most direct record and identify a material uncertainty or omit the disputed detail. Historical dates may follow different calendars. A claim of sole invention is avoided when a discovery or organization had multiple contributors.

Writing, scope and updates

Entries are original editorial summaries of public lives and professional work. They aim to explain context and contribution, rather than reproduce publicity language. Automated tools may assist research, drafting and formatting; their output still requires source checks. The presence of a source list is not a claim of exhaustive review or academic peer review.

Publication and revision dates identify the edition. Public roles and other changing facts can become outdated. We do not imply that every entry is monitored continuously. Our growing collection is selective and does not rank a person’s worth or influence.

Editorial coverage and paid services

Independent biographies are separate from subject-provided professional profiles. Being featured does not mean a person joined CYBIOGRAPHY, paid a fee, approved a biography or endorsed this site. Paid profile services, when available, must be identified clearly.

A payment cannot buy a favorable account of public facts, delete supported history or create a verification badge. A successful identity or representation check establishes who may submit changes; it is not certification of every claim, professional qualification or reputation.

Portraits, authorship and licenses

Portrait credits and source or license links appear with the image. Historic paintings and self-portraits are identified as such. We use documented reusable material and record any resizing or cropping. Image rights remain separate from the biography text. We do not use a synthetic likeness as an authentic archival photograph.

Privacy and proportion

Coverage focuses on public professional activity and documented biographical context. We do not publish private contact details, identity documents or confidential verification material. A public figure’s family relationship is not permission to collect unrelated private information.

Corrections and rights requests

Use the request form to identify the profile, the exact disputed passage and the source supporting a correction. You can also report portrait attribution problems, request removal of private information, or ask about a subject-provided profile. You do not need to purchase a membership to report an error.

Requests are stored for editorial review. Submission does not automatically change a biography, transfer control or guarantee an outcome. No response deadline is currently promised. When a substantive correction is accepted, the revised entry should identify the updated date and, where needed, explain the change.
