Family and birth

Moulay Hassan was born at the Royal Palace in Rabat on 8 May 2003, the son of Mohammed VI and Princess Lalla Salma. He was named after his grandfather, Hassan II. His younger sister is Princess Lalla Khadija. The repeated Hassan name connects generations, but the crown prince is a different person from the former king whose reign ended in 1999.

Education and preparation

His schooling in Morocco preceded university study associated with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. Education is a central part of the biography of a young heir. Attendance, a course of study and a completed degree should be distinguished, so this entry does not assign an unverified qualification simply because a university appears in public accounts of his preparation.

The crown-prince position

He is identified by Moroccan official sources as crown prince and heir to the sovereign. That position is distinct from the king’s constitutional and religious responsibilities. Mohammed VI remains the reigning monarch. Ceremonies in which an heir represents a king are therefore recorded as representation, not treated as evidence that the crown has already passed to a new sovereign.

Official appearances

Moulay Hassan began accompanying his father at public engagements while still young and has subsequently undertaken ceremonies and representative occasions. National commemorations and international events provide a public record of increasing responsibilities. Their importance lies in documented participation and preparation; a photograph beside an institution does not establish that he personally manages it or holds an unspecified executive office.

An evolving public role

As he moves further into adult public life, his profile requires dated sources rather than assumptions based on older childhood coverage. Official Moroccan reporting in 2026 continues to identify him as crown prince. This entry concentrates on established education, identity and representative duties, leaving room for separately verified appointments as the institutional record develops.

Position within the Alaouite family

His father’s profile provides the earlier succession of 1999 and the broader sovereign context. Moulay Hassan’s biography follows the next generation without implying that the entire Alaouite family has only two members. The directory’s selected coverage is intended to make those relationships clear while keeping a distinction between royal descent, an heir’s preparation and powers currently exercised by the king.
