Music and television
Will Smith first gained attention in the duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air subsequently made him a familiar television performer, creating a bridge between his music career and film work.
The film career
Bad Boys, Independence Day and Men in Black established his presence in action and comedy. Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness brought Academy Award nominations. His portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard earned the Academy Award for Best Actor.
