An independent breakthrough

Jennifer Lawrence appeared in television before Winter’s Bone established her as a major young dramatic performer. The film brought her first Academy Award nomination and introduced a career that would alternate between intimate stories and large productions.

International recognition

Her roles as Mystique in the X-Men films and Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games reached worldwide audiences. Silver Linings Playbook brought her the Academy Award for Best Actress, followed by further recognition for American Hustle and Joy.

A broader creative role

Later work includes Don’t Look Up, Causeway and No Hard Feelings. Lawrence also co-founded the production company Excellent Cadaver. Her filmography illustrates how franchise visibility can sit alongside a continuing interest in independent drama and producing.
