From television to cinema

George Clooney became widely known as Doug Ross in ER. Films such as Out of Sight, Three Kings and O Brother, Where Art Thou? helped establish a screen career beyond television, followed by the ensemble success of Ocean’s Eleven.

Acting and directing

Syriana brought Clooney the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Michael Clayton, Up in the Air and The Descendants added further major dramatic roles. His directing work includes Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Good Night, and Good Luck.

Behind the production

Clooney shared the Academy Award for Best Picture as a producer of Argo. His career is therefore defined by several different responsibilities in filmmaking. This profile distinguishes those production achievements from his work as a performer.
